Senior Parcel Tax Exemption

Homeowners who turn 65 by July 1 of the tax year may apply for an exemption from the parcel tax for the next tax year. To qualify, you must both own and live in the home for which you are requesting the exemption. Applications are due by June 1 for the upcoming fiscal year.
For the first year of the tax only (Fiscal Year 2025-26), eligible homeowners who apply after June 1 but before December 15, 2025, will still receive an exemption. Those who apply during this period, or homeowners who acquire property after June 1, may also request a refund by following the procedures outlined below.

About Measure N

In November 2024, the registered voters within the East Side Union High School District (“ESUHSD”) boundaries approved Measure N parcel tax. The funds collected are used to maintain and protect vital educational programs and classes, including expanding classes for college readiness, vocational and career training programs; attract and retain qualified, high-performing teachers, staff and counselors; support competitive wages, benefits and expand access to resources for teachers and staff. Measure N is $49 per parcel annually, for five years beginning July 1, 2025.
